8 hours!

8 Hours! Sweet Baby girl went 8 hours between her feedings last night- Omigosh! I totally needed to brag on her. Now I will say moms don't get too jealous and think I slept 8 hrs. She ate at midnight and woke again at 8 to feed- well we didn't get her down to sleep until 1, at 3 she was fussy because her tummy hurt, I was engorged and had to pump at 6, and then it was 8 to feed. But I'm still super proud of her and one day I will get those full 8 hours of sleep again.........

Our weekend in Corpus

We headed to Corpus on Thursday to remember my father. It was a bittersweet weekend. It is always hard heading to Corpus because I am overwhelmed with memories of my sweet father. After being delayed for over 6 hours we finally made it to corpus around midnight. Miss Kiley was an amazing traveler. Luckily we weren't that "family" with a screaming baby. Friday was filled with a private luncheon followed by a building dedication of my father at the University and a cocktail party. It was a very special day to be apart of but of course so very sad. I miss him so very much and it was much harder this trip because he wasn't there to meet and play with Kiley. My heart was heavy and hurt but I was so very proud of his legacy that he has been left behind. Saturday we made our regular stop at the Yacht Club, did a little shopping and then took Kiley to her first crawfish boil. Sunday we relaxed a little and head back to the airport to go home. We were exhausted needless to say.

Happy Birthday Sweet Lauren!

Tonight we celebrated my dear friends Laurens birthday. (Her birthday was last week but we were out of town). I didn't get a picture of Lauren tonight but instead had one of the boys with our babies :) Lew and I have been so blessed my Evan and Lauren in our lives and we love raising a baby with them. Lauren is such a sweet person who is so very caring and always there when you need her. I'm very blessed to have her to call on for mommy advice. She helps me out on so many questions and I appreciate her advice more than she knows. We had such a wonderful night drinking, eating Mi Cocina and loving on our sweet babies. Perfect. Love you Lauren and Happy Birthday!

Leaving on a jet plane

Chunky Monkey!

We had a 3 week pediatrician appointment because we thought Kiley might have acid reflux. Well, one thing is for sure is that she is getting plenty to eat! My little chunky monkey is weighing 8 pds 5 ozs! She was 7.7 at our 2 week appt 9 days ago- so she is definitely putting on over an oz a day. So happy she is growing. Poor Miss K has slight acid reflux so we are putting her on some medication to help her pain.

Q&A with Kiley

Me: What's up Kiley?

Kiley: whaaaaazzzzzz uuuuupppp!!!

Me: How do you feel about the color purple?

Kiley: I truly love purple, it brings a smile to my face every time I see it, which happens to be a lot with my parents.

Me: How do you feel about Democrats?

Kiley: Hmmmm... Let me think about that. Well, their "mascot" is a donkey, and I am just 2 and a 1/2 weeks old and even I know that's lame. I'll just say I'm reminded of them every time mommy or daddy changes my diaper.

Me: Did you get your mother anything for mothers day this year?

Kiley: My mommy is the only other thing besides purple that brightens my day, she is the best. Since it was her first mothers day ever I wanted to do something sweet for her, asked my daddy for an advance on my allowance so I could get her something nice, but he said I haven't earned it yet, lil cheap @$$. So Lady let me go in with her on a gift, bouquet of flowers and a card. Lady said it worked out perfect because she could get the stuff and I could write in the card for us. Mommy really liked it, she makes me smile and I made her smile.

Melts my heart!

A very special Mother's Day!

Oh what a very special day! Having a sweet baby girl of my own has given me a deeper appreciation of this special day. I'm not only very blessed to be a mommy but have had two wonderful role models that I hope I can be half as wonderful as- my amazing mom and my sweet mother in law. My mom has taught me so very much but what I love the most about my mother is how she always looks for the positive no matter the situation. It doesn't matter what or when she never sees negative and is always so uplifting. My mom is so very selfless and has always put her children first. She is always scarficing something for us. She is my biggest cheerleader and is so proud of me no matter what. Thank you for everything you have done and conitnue to do for me and our family mom- I love you! And not only do I have such an amazing mother- I was extra blessed with a fabulous mother in law. My MIL has raised such a wonderful man, my husband. Im forever grateful in the values she instilled in him. My Mil has welcomed me with open arms and treats me as part of the family and another one for her daughters. My favorite thing about my Mil is her servant heart. She is such a women of the Lord and constantly inspires me to be a better women, and wife. She does so much for her family and is their rock. I hope and pray I can be half of the wife, and mother these two amazing women are. They love our sweet Kiley and have been such a help these first few weeks. We love y'all!

Now onto me ;) what a very special day Lewis and Kiley made this day. I woke up to 2 flower bouquets- one from Lew and one from Kiley and Lady. There were cards with both of them and they were so very sweet. My in-laws were in town for a rangers game and stopped by in the morning to love on Miss Kiley. Lew and I headed to church as a family and then went to lunch. After lunch, I took a fabulous nap while Lew watched the baby. We ended the night at Mi Cocina with the in-laws. It was just perfect!

On to what makes me a mommy- Miss Kiley
I can't believe she is 2 1/2 weeks already. I feel like she is already getting so big. We had her 2 week pediatrician appointment and she is just perfect! She weighed in at 7.7. So she is gaining exactly the perfect amount of weight. The Dr checked her out and everything was great. We go back in 2 wks for her 1 month. We are still figuring out her schedule. I'm such a Type A but learning to go with the flow. I'm currently letting her wake up on her own and let me know when she is hungry. As of the last week and half she eats about every 4-4 1/2 hrs a day. At night she will go around 5 hrs. According to baby wise I should be feeding every 2-3 hrs but I figure if she isn't hungry why feed her sooner? So anyhow, we are still working on a schedule. She nurses around 12-15 mins total and then I'll pump around 3-5 ozs after each feeding. I definitely feel like Elsie the cow! And the milk is taking over Lews deep freeze for deer meat- ha!

Things she likes:
- LOVES looking into mirrors (not vain at all- ha!)
- raising her head while we are burping her
- Bath time. It's more like spa time for her bc she gets sleepy in the tub
- to be held
- snuggling on my chest
- watching movies with daddy
- the vitamin supplement
- nursing- she gets so noisy and chugs- ha!

Dislikes:
-Sleeping in her pack n play, she would much rather be sleeping in her bouncer
- getting her clothes changed
- dirty diapers
- being swaddled

Overall, we have a very happy and easy going baby! We are so blessed!
