37 week Dr update

37 week dr update

We have hit 37 weeks! Officially a full term baby-  woohoo! Everything was great at our doctors visit. I put on another 2 pounds - I'm ready for the scale to start going the other way- ha. Baby Ks heart rate was 134. Usually is in the high 140-s but since we had an early appointment this time she decided to sleep through it. My blood pressure and all is doing great. I would have thought with the accident and all the contractions I started having we would have started to progress but nope- another hard as a rock report. Lovely. She is just enjoying being in my tummy too much. I will say I'm not sure I'm ready for her to come just yet. I still feel pretty good and I love being able to take care of her in my tummy. On a funny note the doctor has been telling Lewis to "get busy and do his homework" to help soften my cervix. Well, my husband right now is refusing saying he needs at least another week and half of preparing for her before he helps me out. Haha! I'm sure some of y'all are thinking TMI but ohwell.

Overall, we have been busy bees around here trying to get things organized and ready for our little princess. We finally got the chandelier up and hanging in her nursery. I love it! I still need to order her rug and a few other things but it's coming along. Everyone keeps wanting to see pics but I don't want to post any until it's complete. So stay tuned. There are so many errands I want to run each day but I get completely exhausted so easily and not to mention my feet start to look like balloons that are going to pop if I am on them for too long. We took maternity pictures last week and I'm so excited to get them back. Also, my junior league provisional year is wrapping up and I just need to attend two more meetings and I'll be done! Woohoo! The year flew by so fast. The more I think about it where has the last 9 months gone?!?! I can't believe the pregnancy is almost over. Lew keeps telling me how much he loves me pregnant and what a great look it is that I should always be pregnant- ha! Jokes on him because I want 2-3 kids and one is already almost here. He also believes that because I was pregnant TCU football has been undefeated and that by next football season I need another baby in my belly- he is crazy! Oh how he loves his horned frogs! So now I'm rambling on........more updates soon!

Our hospital stay

Our hospital stay

THANK YOU to everyone once again for the overwhelming support of love and prayers. It was so wonderful to feel so loved in such a scary time. Lewis and I received so many texts and calls and it truly meant the world to us- so thank you! We were finally released from the hospital on Saturday around 11. I like to think we had a practice run for when Baby K arrives.
Here is a summary of our hospital stay:
I was taken in an ambulance on a stretcher to the ER at Baylor. During our ride, I was hooked up to a blood pressure machine and it was producing some very funky numbers and it made me very nervous because your blood pressure is one of the first signs that something can be wrong with the baby. The EMT just laughed at the numbers and said he didn't believe the silly machines (seriously!?! What's the point of them if they are inaccurate? Just bizarre to me) Anyhow, they first had me checked out by everyone in the ER. Everything was looking good and it made me calm down a little. The weird thing was no one would give me any water. They said it was incase they needed to do an emergency c-section. So then I was super nervous again. (keep in mind during all this time i didn't have Lew with me. He was still at the scene dealing with the cops and the situation). Finally, Lew showed up they released me up to Labor and Delivery. When we checked into LD they had me put on a hospital gown and this was hilarious! Those things are hard to figure out- Lew and I kept laughing and turning it in every direction to figure it out, finally did! Once again, I asked for water and they wouldn't give it to me either (it was making me nervous they kept speaking of an emergency c-section) They hooked me up to machines that would monitor the babys heart rate and as Lew called it a TACO machine that monitored if I was having contractions. They took my blood to send it off to make sure my blood and the babys wasn't mixing. They also called in a specialist to do a sonogram to make sure there wasn't blood or the placenta separating. You feel fine but at points the Doctors briefly mention all these possible complications and you just sit there and pray that your baby is just perfect and nothings wrong. The specialist arrived and they wheeled me into the room to do a sonogram, after everything appeared good she did a 3D one for us. Lew was absolutely loving this part because you can see her nose and features for real, she has a full head of hair and it was adorable! The DR also said she was a big baby weighing around 7 pds?!? ( Ugh excuse me? She is suppose to gain half a pd a week- so that would put her around 9 pds = huge!) The specialist noticed that I had 6 contractions in about 15 minutes and decided we needed to be kept monitored over night. We were taken to a special high risk floor (once again that makes me nervous because I thought everything was coming back positive). The sweet nurse explained that the objective of the floor was to keep babies in where Labor and delivery was to get babies out. They hooked me up to machines again and monitored the baby and my contractions. Everything was looking great with her and my contractions were not consistent enough that they took off the monitors in the evening. That evening seemed to go by very slowly since I was in pain and hospital beds are not comfortable - and they deliver dinner at 4:45 ha! Lew had a chair that extended into a "bed" and that looked even more uncomfortable. Finally, it was morning! I was hooked up to the monitors once again and things were still looking good! Praise the Lord. Now we just waited for the DR but there was no definite or even round about time for the rounds. Finally, around 11 the DR came by and released us- yippee! The rest of Saturday I just laid in bed and slept. It was so nice to get home and know that everything checked out well. Lew has been taking fret care of us and my sweet Lady just snuggles in bed with me to take care of us. What a crazy 24 hrs but can't thank God enough for keeping us protected in what could have been a tragedy. Praise the Lord and my sweet Angel Daddy.

36 week Doctor update

We had our 36 week doctor appointment Wednesday and Baby K is snug as a bug. I haven't started at all to move to deliver her. She is very comfortable and is enjoying her little home right now. I was really hoping she would decide to come play before April 21st but our Dr thinks she will be right around her due date if not later. Yes later?!? I couldn't believe it and the dr would let me go up to 2 weeks after her due date before she induced. So please keep your fingers crossed she has cooked enough and is ready for her big debut before April 21st. All in all everything is going fabulous! Baby K is weighing about 5 1/2 to 6 pounds and should weigh around 7-8 pounds when I deliver her. The doctor said I should have a 16 hour labor (Omigosh is right!). My blood pressure is great and I gained 2 pounds since our last appointment. Baby Ks heart beat was a healthy 148. We just love hearing her heart beat! So overall, we are doing wonderful. Please continue to pray for a strong, healthy baby and smooth delivery.

What a scary day.....

Well, I figured I would update everyone through the blog rathering than responding and repeating the story over texts and calls. This morning I was headed to Dallas to go to market, but instead I have spent the day in the hospital. Luckly everything is okay! Thank the Lord. A teenager decided to run a red light and we smashed into each other. It was so scary and I definitely had my guardian angel daddy watching over and protecting me today. I remember seeing him coming from the left and just praying he doesn't T-bone me on my drivers side. Luckly and by the grace of God I hit him and smashed the front right side of my car. Both of the cars weren't drivable and had to be towed. My car is probably totaled or right in the verge. Lew had been wanting me to buy a new car but I just wasn't really wanting or thinking I needed a new one. So I guess we will just wait and see what the autoshop tells us. By another Grace of God, my airbag didn't deploy. Every officer and witnesses at the scene couldn't believe it- but my Daddy was protecting his little granddaughter. It would have probably caused harm to me and the baby. The EMT highly recommened they take me to the emergency room to make sure everything was okay with the baby. Such a scary thought and I just continued to pray while they took me away on the strecher that she was just perfect as can be. After a check out with the downstairs ER they sent me up to Labor and Delivery. We had blood drawn to make sure nothing ruptured, had a sonogram to make sure the placenta hadn't separated, and been on monitors since we arrived. I have been having contractions and they want to be safe and continue to make sure she isn't in distress. They are keeping me here over night to
continue to make sure the baby and I are good and well. I'm already sore on my right side and
down my back but I guess that's part of being in a car wreck. So that was my very scary day. I just Thank God for keeping us safe and wrapping us up in Angels wings to protect us.

Lately...

I figured I would update everyone on what we have been up to lately and how I am feeling.

Out and About:
On Thursday and Friday we headed to Abilene for one last trip away before I can't leave anywhere. At 36 weeks (that's Thursday-omigosh!) the doctor said I can't go more than an hr away from her. So I definitely have been getting stir crazy and Lews parents had been in Israel, so we figured it was the perfect little trip to make. We got to play with our sweet little nieces, spend some family time and ofcourse went to the Ranch. It was a great little getaway. Saturday our friends Emily and Will had a day party that was so much fun! I didn't take a nap that day and was exhausted by the time we got home. Emily made some white Sangria and I was so jealous of the girls drinking it. I can't wait for a cocktail once Baby K arrives!

On the Home front:
We finally got Baby K her chandelier and I love it! Lew even helped me pick it out. Now it just needs to get hung. Her nursery is slowly but surely coming together. I just need to order her a rug, wait for her bedding to get made by my talented Aunt, get a side table, lamps and hang some things on the wall. I know it's a lot- but I keep telling myself its just a few minor things. As far as our house goes, I got us new outdoor furniture and I love it. Lady and I have been spending time out there relaxing and reading baby books. I just finished Babywise and I am onto Happiest Baby on the Block. I also have been going through boxes and throwing things away or donating them- we have so much crap.

How I am feeling:
Swollen! Ha. After we got home Saturday my feet were sooooo swollen! They were huge and Lew and I just laughed at my sausage feet. I will say that they do hurt when they start swelling. I have been drinking lots of water and trying to keep my feet propped but I get bored. I definately can't shop like I use to :( my feet start hurting so bad that I head home. I think this is Gods way to slowly slow down my shopping sprees. I know once the Baby arrives those all day and frequent mall trips wont be happening so much anymore. So rather than going through withdraws later he is slowly detoxing me now-haha! Also, my groin area muscles hurt and are so sore. I am also now getting pretty uncomfortable at night and during the day a little. My back hurts here and there but usually feels better the next day. But i do consider myself super lucky and blessed- it could be way worse!

All and all things are going great around here. I attempted to make some hair bows the other day and let's just say I need more practice. I just refuse to pay someone $8-12 for a hairbow. So I am determined to make her some. Also, sweet little Lady has been needing extra love and attention. It has been so funny. At night when Lew and I are rubbing my belly or watching it she comes and puts her head near our hands to pet her also. At one point she literally propped herself down right on top of lew with her head on his chest. We both just laughed and he told her she was being more needy than mommy. Ha! Wednesday we have our 36 week appointment and will find out more details on when Baby K might arrive. I can't believe we are down to 4 weeks?!? Where did the time go? It's a bitter sweet feeling right now. I have truly enjoyed watching and feeling Gods miracle grow in my belly and I enjoy being pregnant-so I am a little sad my once very round belly will become flat (or flat compared to being 9 months pregnant) and I will be holding her. Wow. So unreal. God picked me to be a mommy?! So exciting. A little nerve racking. I can only hope and pray that I will be half the mother that my mom and Lews mom have been. I know God has a perfect plan for our little bundle of joy and for our family and I need to trust in him.

I love you baby!

Dear miss priss,

It's hard to believe you have been growing in my belly now for 35 weeks. It has been such an amazing experience to watch you grow from a little seed into a big cantalopue.... And still growing. When we first found out we received a sweet miracle from God we were thrilled. Mommy was definitely nervous and a little apprehensive but your daddy couldn't be more excited! Your daddy had been wanting you for years and was so thrilled and went straight into protective mode. That night he didn't sleep but rather researched all night what mommy could and couldn't eat, drink, etc. He also made a grocery store run buying every fruit the store was selling, along with baby books and prenatal vitamins. He was excited! As the weeks have gone by we fall more in love with you and are getting more anxious to meet you. We love getting to hear your little heart beat at each doctors appointment. Your daddy loves playing with you at night and if you are sleeping he puts two different TCU songs to my belly to wake you up and get you dancing. He gets so excited because you start dancing everytime. Your big sister is getting excited to meet you and give you lots if kisses. She likes to cuddle up next to me and put her head on my belly to cuddle with you. I know you will just love her!

My pregnancy with you has been wonderful. I feel so blessed and thank the Lord for you all the time. I hear all these sad stories about couples trying to conceive and not being able to or mothers who have lost their baby. I'm just overwhelmed  and feel so blessed that God has given mommy such a great pregnancy and pray your delivery and health is just as perfect. Since you have been growing in my tummy you have given me a sweet tooth! I could eat dessert all the time and love chewing on ice that is half melted. I also love slurpees and your daddy is always amazed that I finish every last drop of my drink. I enjoy chickfila and dipping my sandwich into ranch and honey mixed (that's my sweet tooth.) Now that I am 35 weeks you have made me quit uncomfortable and I'm sure you fill the same way. Every so often you seem to spaz out in my belly because you don't have much room anymore. My belly has grown and I'm not sure how or where you can go these next 5 weeks. You only sit on the right side in my tummy and try to get you to move to the middle but you stay put. It's hard for mommy to sleep now- I'm too busy trying to get comfortable and once I finally do I need to go potty again. Oh part of the joys of being 35 weeks. I'm ready for you to be here so we can go to a beach and have a big frozen drink! You have my feet swelling now and mommy a little stir crazy. I think it's part because I only have 5 days to go anywhere before I need to stay put and wait for our big debut. Your daddy loves to put his purple stethoscope to my belly to hear you squishing around. He also enjoys sticking his finger in my belly button since it is officially sticking out. He thinks it's funny that your mommy waddles around and has difficulty breathing since you cramp my lungs.

It's hard to imagine in just 5 short weeks, our lives will never be the same because you will be in this world. It's hard for me to think I'll be a mommy and have a child of my own. As time is getting closer we are trying to get prepared for you as much as possible. Mommy has been putting your daddy to work to make sure everything is just perfect for your arrival. We can not wait to meet you! Love you!

I had such a fabulous Baby Shower and couldn't feel more blessed. My sweet friends Kat, Maggie, Lauren, Toni and Elizabeth hosted the shower for me and Baby K and we are so grateful for all the hard work that went into the shower- it was perfect! Not only was it as cute as can be, but Baby K was completely spoiled. We had such an amazing time!

UCC here we come!

We got the call the other day that Baby K will be attending UCC! I was thrilled to receive the call and super excited for her to attend this fabulous program. Let me just explain a little bit about this "waitlist"- ha! We knew we wanted Baby K to attend this program when she was 2 for three days a week. However, its pretty much impossible to get into the 2yr program unless you have done the 1 yr old program. So I called a few months back to put her on the wait list for the 1 yr old program and it was already 30 babies deep! I mean omigosh! I havent had this child yet and there are is a wait list of other unborn children as well. Keep in mind that this program only has 5-6 children in a class so 30 children= no 1 yr old program for Baby K. So I decided to put her on the wait list for the cribs program that had only 7 other babies on it. Ofcourse, Lewis thinks I am crazy and doesnt understand social interaction with other children, none the less the development they will teach her. So speed it up a few months and we finally heard back that we got in for the Wednesday cribs class! Woohoo! We took a tour and paid of deposit and will send her off on her little way in August.

34 week Dr update

We have only 6 more weeks before we get to meet our sweet little blessing- we are just so excited! We had our 34 week check up and things are looking great. I didn't put on any weight since our last visit 2 weeks ago- I was excited. My blood pressure looks great and the babys heart rate is wonderful at 153. She is still measuring ahead of schedule but not by much- 35 cm. Overall, I've been feeling good besides some swelling and seeing "stars" here and there but the doctor is not concerned at all and said that's all normal. At our next appointment at 36 weeks and we will hopefully get a better gage on when she might be making her big debut!

32 weeks Doc update

So I know this is a week late- but ohwell.

Our 32 week appointment went great! Baby grew so much and so did mommy-ha. I put on 4 pounds and the baby belly grew 4 cms. Baby K is back to measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule. I really think she is coming early and as long as it's after 37 weeks-it's perfectly fine with me! Maybe even encouraged :) My blood pressure was great and her little heart rate was at 143. I just love hearing that little beat at our appointments. She loves being in my right side and that's where the doctor always get her heart rate from. Overall, I'm feeling great. The only discomfort I have been having is the oh so lovely swelling of my hands and feet and what feels like my groin muscles pulled. I asked the doctor when that would go away and she laughed and said once I deliver the baby. Lovely. So we head back next week for the 34 week appointment, so crazy how little time is left.

Other random news:
Nursery- everyone keeps asking for pictures but we are still in the process of getting her perfect little room together. I'll post pics and everything hopefully very soon.

Baby Shower- I'm just waiting on the hubby to upload the pics since I'm technologically slow. It was such a very special day and was more than I had imagined!

Lady- our sweet dog and us are playing the waiting game right now. We are waiting for x-rays from her car accident in Abilene to compare them to her new x-rays. Once we receive them in the next day or so we are sending everything off to a radiologists in Dallas for a second opinion, please continue to pray for our sweet dog.
